Dr. Helen Clay Gallagher has been practicing as a certified Athletic Trainer with professional (including US Rowing athletes), collegiate, and young athletes for over 10 years. An undergraduate of Penn State University, Helen pursued her master’s degree in Kinesiology and a Clinical Doctorate in Athletic Training from Temple University. Helen first joined the Sports Medicine staff at Temple University in 2013 and advanced to be the Associate Athletic Trainer in 2018 serving as the second in command for the Olympic Sports. Helen assisted with multiple Olympic Sports in her tenure at Temple but provided direct care with rowing, volleyball, tennis, track & field, and cheer & dance. In 2021, Helen moved on to work with the Sports Medicine and Performance Center in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she is currently still a part of that team.
Helen has been trained in the implementation of functional movement assessments, neurodynamics, and techniques from the Postural Restoration Institute as additional clinical skills for the advancement of medical care for her clients.
While earning her undergraduate degree from Penn State, Helen worked as an athletic training student with a number of the Nittany Lions’ athletic teams and was a rower (and occasional coxswain) for the Penn State Crew Team. Helen has a background as a physical therapy aide and personal trainer that included general fitness, athletes in training, traumatic brain injuries, neuromuscular disease, and continual recovery post physical therapy from a traumatic physical injury.
Helen and her husband Dan established CG Athletic Therapy LLC in July 2023 to offer a unique sports medicine service to athletes of all ages.
